Prague With a 5-Year-Old: Chaos, Castles & Chimney Cakes

We had a plan. Our five-year-old had a different plan. The city, mercifully, accommodated both.

We had a plan. Our five-year-old had a different plan.

The city, mercifully, accommodated both.

Prague with young kids is one of those experiences that sounds harder than it is. Yes, the cobblestones are relentless. Yes, the castle is at the top of a very long hill. Yes, chimney cakes cost twice what they should because you're on the tourist drag and you'll buy one anyway.

But the city is walkable in a way that works for small legs. The trams are easy. The food is cheap and good. And there's something about medieval architecture that genuinely captures a five-year-old's imagination in a way that no playground ever has.

We stayed five days. It wasn't enough.
